Weaving for Collapse

Title: Weaving for Collapse
Instructor:  Judie Overbeek
Length: 1 day
Class Date: Friday, June 15
Class Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Description:

Not all weave structures yield a flat, smooth surface. With six or more harnesses you can create a twill structure which builds a permanent set of hills and valleys.  They don’t appear until the fabric is washed, but once activated, they are there forever.  This seemingly magical structure is really pretty simple.  Join the fun of weaving collapse fabric, entice your creative genie out of the bottle, and explore the variations on this theme.

Level:

Intermediate – experience with 8-harness weaving is helpful.

Materials Fee: $10

Students Should Bring:
  • Fully warped loom according to draft you received.  Table looms are much easier to transport and use in a class setting.  Please DO NOT WEAVE AHEAD OF CLASS.
  • Sufficient yarn for weft according to your instructions for the draft you received.
  • Notebook and camera/cell phone
  • Fray Check
